Who We Are
The Ferris Public Library system is located at 301 E. 10th St. The Ferris Public Library provides free services to all residents living within the Ferris city limits with services available to all others for a $20 annual fee.
The library system holds over 17,000 materials including over 15,000 books, and 120 audio books. Over 100 CD-ROMS and 1,900 movies are also now available for check-out.
In addition to these items, thousands of people entered the library to utilize print and electronic reference resources, access the Internet through the Library’s fiber-optic connection, enjoy state-of-the-art Wi-fi service, or attend one of the Library’s many events.

*Fax -- $2.00 for the first page; .50 cents following the same number. Cover sheets are of no charge.

Your Library Card
Who can get a card
All patrons may apply for a library card. Free memberships for those who live in the city limits (must receive Ferris water bill). For non-resident applicants, must bring in Driver's License with the correct address and $20.00 (per year). Must be 17 years or older to apply for an adult library card. Those who are 16 or younger must have a parent/guardian present to get a library card.
How to Get Your Card
Fill application according to paper requirement. A copy of your Diver's License is required for record purposes.
Borrowing Limits
Patrons are allowed to check 8 books (per card) for 2 weeks. Patrons may check out 3 movies (per household) for 2 days.
Placing Holds
Reservations for an item can be made at the circulation desk or over the phone. Once an item has been checked in, it will be placed on the reserved shelf for check out -- the library will notify patron when it comes in.
Renewing Your Borrowed Items
To renew an item, the patron may call the library to speak with an assistant librarian and it will be extended according to the due date. The patron may also come into the library and speak with a librarian to renew items.
Library Fines
Overdue books are $ .25 per day/per item. Overdue movies are $1.00 per day/per item. Missing barcodes are $3.00.Damaged or lost movie cases $5.00 (each). Repairable damage $5.00 (per item). Library card replacement $5.00.Non-resident membership $20.00 (per year). Lost item/Maximum fine per item replacement cost.
Gift/Donation Policy
The Ferris Public Library welcomes gifts of new and used books copyright date within the last 5 years, audio recordings, videos, and similar materials. No magazines will be accepted. All donations become the property of the Library, with the exception of exhibits, and if not added to the Library's collection, may be given to other libraries and non-profit agencies, sold, traded, or discarded. The Library will acknowledge receipt of donated items, but it is not appropriate for library staff to set values for donated materials. If items are being donated to obtain a tax benefit, it is the donor's responsibility to establish a fair market value or obtain expert assistance in establishing any value. The Library also reserves the right to decide when a gift added to the collection must be withdrawn from the Library's collection.
Monetary gifts will be deposited into the City of Ferris' General Fund for distribution to the Library's budget in the following year. Specific titles or subject requests are subject to purchase in the next fiscal year and must meet the Library's selection criteria.
Memorial gift donations will be provided with a "In Honor Of" or "In Memory Of" bookplate.
